I have worked at Coborn since: April 1994

When I grew up I wanted to be: A Fighter Pilot

My Coborn journey so far:

I started life here as an Apprentice.  I’ve since works as a Turner, Machine Fitter, Service Engineer, Product Manager, Technical Manager and am currently Operations Manager.  As you can see I’ve been with Coborn a while and had really great opportunities to develop and learn new expertise along the way.

What it's like to work for Coborn:

Coborn is a dynamic and interesting company.  Every day presents new opportunities and technical advancements which keeps work interesting and gives you a good sense of progression and achievement.  We have a great team of people here who all add to the ‘one big family’ culture, which is why I’d recommend Coborn as a great place to work.

Clare Parrish

Payroll Officer

I have worked at Coborn since: January 2004

When I grew up I wanted to be: Part of a team working with figures.  I was always good with numbers and wanted to work in an office.

My Coborn journey so far:

I’ve always worked as the payroll officer, but also worked for a short time in the wheels side of the business which was good experience.

What it's like to work for Coborn:

Coborn is really local for me and they’ve offered great flexibility whilst my kids have been growing up which has allowed a good work-life balance.  Everyone is really friendly and there is a good social crowd with regular Friday drinks for those who want to join in.  I like the friendly atmosphere and sense that everyone is working together to improve the Company.  It’s a nice place to work.

Joe Crane

Apprentice Engineer

I have worked at Coborn since: January 2013

When I grew up I wanted to be: An Actor

My Coborn journey so far:

I have worked at Coborn for approximately five to six years now, and have been in education for a considerable amount of that time. Coborn and its staff have given me a great amount of support in building my career as an engineer by sending me to college, and by allowing me to work with highly skilled people, in many different aspects of engineering (milling, turning, fitting and spindles). I feel I have achieved in these areas to now make me the improving Engineer I am today.

What it's like to work for Coborn:

Having had the experience in the Milling and Turning department, I feel I am now given more responsibility and respect which has encouraged me to take on more new things.  Coborn is local to where I live, flexible, relaxed and a good team of people to work with.  I hope to go on to do my HNC and continue to progress my Engineering career with Coborn.

Yashar Samdi

Design Engineer

I have worked at Coborn since: January 2015

When I grew up I wanted to be: A Carpenter

My Coborn journey so far:

I started as a Design Engineer for Coborn almost 3 years ago.  I’ve really appreciated the opportunity to work in high-procession engineering design.  The product designs and developments we work on are detailed and varied which I enjoy.

What it's like to work for Coborn:

I like working with the unique product range we have, the variety of my job and the team.  I have autonomy to be creative and innovate so I enjoy the self-development and learning I get from the role.

Jenny Tilbury

HR Manager

I have worked at Coborn since: December 1996

When I grew up I wanted to be: A Nursery Nurse

My Coborn journey so far:

I started here doing the payroll and year end etc. and the owner recognised my potential and encouraged me to progress and learn.  Being recognised for your skills and being pushed to learn and develop was really valuable to me.  I was also bringing up three young children and the support and flexibility I was offered was fantastic and made me feel really valued.  I’m now the HR Manager but I get involved in a verity of operational tasks, which is one of the nice things about being a small team – working together and the variety.

What it's like to work for Coborn:

They do develop you and spot talent early on.  A lot of us are local and value the convenience, but it’s the encouragement and the personal touch that the senior team give that has made it a great place to work.  Most start as apprentices and work their way up which is great way to understand the business and get to know the team.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my career here with Coborn.
